There was a rather angry debate in my neighborhood at a garage sale.

God & salvation are on the minds of many people.

There was a COUPLE of people that said we should live simple like the Apostles and the Early Disciples as discussed in Acts and the Epistles. But a group that goes to church regularly and give much money in philanthropy ridiculed the idea. They said and laughed, "How are you going to live simply when we are almost required in the US to have a computer, Internet and cellphone??"

Some suggested getting good information and not live too luxioursly.

One person in the COUPLE said that Internet was evil and that the Apostles didn't need that to be a success in life.

What do you feel? Is either side right? What is the middle way??

If there is a middle way, please explain how you negotiate your time between praying, the Internet and the challenges of lack of money and the difficulties of living in 2011

Hmmm...tough questions. I think if some people feel that they're called to live in such a simple way, then they should do it. But I don't agree doing something when your heart's not in it.

The internet can be used for both good and bad things. Some people use their blogs to spread God's words to make sure they're using their time in the internet by doing God's work. I think you can shine God's light everywhere and anywhere and in different ways.

I think that before you start thinking of helping others, you should think of your family first 'coz that's your first priority and responsibility. I remembered when we didn't have too much money, we couldn't really help out or buy people gifts, but now that we are both earning money, we have more ability to do so.

Taking time for praying needs discipline. Sometimes I do that while riding my bike to work and sometimes at work I say a little prayer as well...although I know I should devote more time to pray, but well...sometimes I "forget" and other things occupy my mind, but I do try to read at least a devotional each day. I find that prayer may not change the situation, but it may help change our hearts and give us peace. :-)))
