scary experience

I was rushing to a meeting b/c I'm the vice president and I was late. The group I am in is St. Damians' Mens' Club. We are group that raises lots of money for the school and we are an area charity that supplies food to those who are poor and helps the elderly. So anyway, I was late and the cops caught me speeding.
You know & I know that when you see those flashing red and blue lights and they are for YOU, there's an awful feeling. Naturally when they stop a person they ask for your driver's license. This policeman decided to talk about how fast I was going and I anticipated that he would THEN ask for my driver's license, and so I reached in my coatpocket to get it.

OMG!!!! Wrong move.He shouted at me to get my hands on steering wheel and then get out of my car as soon as possible. I was frisked. I said I was just going to give him my driver's license and he said, "never reach for anything in your pocket", b/c police will think you are reaching for a gun. & they don't have any time to find out if it's a license or a gun. So they are required to act fast and PRESUME IT'S A GUN. Thank God, he let me go w/o giving me a traffic arrest. It would've really sucked to have gotten a ticket and pay $100 for traffic school. I came to the meeting very shaken during the 1st half of the meeting.

Oh God! What a nonsense... How could he accuse you with having a gun on you? Are there different styles of picking your licence from your pocket?
What a shame on the police!

Have a nice week, Vince!
