Goodbye, Stephanie Abrams!

The time has come where I'm making the household decisions by myself.  With my ex-wife moving out most of her possessions out of the condo we started living in way back in 1994, I have to make sure my budget to pay for expenses is on solid ground.  One of the first things I decided was to get rid of cable.  This, of course, does not mean getting rid of TV as free, digital broadcast has 20 channels.  When I first moved from Wisconsin to Chicago, I went the first 6 months with no TV and didn't miss a minute of it.  Give me a good stereo w/ good rockin' radio stations and my massive music collection, and I can do without cable !

This time though, I will feel a twinge of regret of the things I can't watch anymore.  I will miss the History Channel (especially Pawn Stars, I'll have another blog dedicated to that popular show) and my son will miss ESPN (so will I but to a lesser extent).  Also, I will miss a habit that will be tough to break.  For over a year now, I have thoroughly enjoyed waking up to hear and listen to Stephanie Abrams give the daily weather and sharing her extensive knowledge about meteorology.  She gives her audience on weekday mornings an inspired blend of engaging, entertaining and educational reporting about what is going on in the weather that we live in and experience in the United States.  I even love it when she talks about sports and her beloved Gators (and that's coming from someone born and raised in Wisconsin who loves his Badgers & Packers!).  I know that when I wake up tomorrow on July 14, my morning will just not be the same without her.

Below, is Stephanie doing the hard work of reporting a nasty storm.  Keep up the great work, Stephanie!  When I work at a better paralegal job at another law firm, I'll come back to watch you again!  There are some very good meteorologists at Weather Channel http://www.weather.com/ .  I remember in 2005 watching Heather Tesch during the mornings.  One hates to make comparisons (or possibly even reading comparisons) between quality professionals, where Heather was a reliable, wife and mother of two children and brought that solid, matronly qualities to her fine reporting; it didn't take long for me to really enjoy, Stephanie's wonderful humor, great depth and breadth of  background in meteorology, fine collaborative skills with her fellow anchorpersons and all around enjoyable personality.

You'll be missed !   :(

Decisions, decisions. Sounds like a great one to me! :-))) It's really surprising what we can live without when we really have to make do, though.
